Jessica Narum serves as Associate Professor of Music Theory at Baldwin Wallace University, teaching harmony, solfege, and post-tonal analysis courses while advising undergraduate thesis projects. She coordinates the B.A. Music degrees and organizes the Music Academic Studies Seminars (MASS), fostering academic engagement within the music program.
Her educational credentials include:

Dr. Narum's research focuses on musical meaning after 1900, with her dissertation analyzing topical elements in Arnold Schoenberg's compositions. She currently pioneers interdisciplinary work applying data science methodologies to musicological analysis, while maintaining active interests in performance studies, popular music, and pedagogical innovation within music theory education.
Her scholarly contributions have been presented at regional American Musicological Society meetings (Midwest and Southwest chapters), the South Central Society for Music Theory, and the national Society for Music Theory conference (2019).
Through mentorship of thesis projects and co-facilitation of a three-semester Faculty-Student Collaborative course in computational musicology, she actively develops student research capabilities. Her leadership in MASS programming further demonstrates commitment to creating robust academic experiences within the music department.
