Jessica McKenzie serves as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the Department of History and Archaeology within Macquarie University's School of Humanities, contributing to research and teaching initiatives focused on Mediterranean antiquity.
Her research spans Ancient History, Roman History, Archaeology, Landscape Studies, and Connectivity in Antiquity, with particular emphasis on spatial networks and imperial dynamics in the ancient Mediterranean. Recent work examines landscape transformation and connectivity patterns in the Strait of Messina region between 300 BC and AD 300.
Dr. McKenzie's 2023 publication in the Papers of the British School at Rome represents her scholarly engagement with Roman-period Mediterranean landscapes, highlighting interdisciplinary approaches to understanding ancient spatial relationships.
