Jessica McCready

Jessica McCready, Ph.D., is a Professor of Biology and Chair of the Department of Health and Human Services at Assumption University. She holds a B.S. in Nutrition from Cornell University (1998), a Ph.D. in Anatomy from Virginia Commonwealth University (2006), and completed postdoctoral training as a TEACRS Fellow at Tufts University School of Medicine in Anatomy, Cellular Biology, and Physiology (2006–2012). Her research focuses on cancer biology, specifically the roles of extracellular heat shock proteins (Hsp), adipose stromal cells, and obesity-driven mechanisms in tumor progression. Key areas include cell migration, tumor microenvironment dynamics, and molecular pathways in breast and brain cancers.

Dr. McCready’s work has been published in journals such as Cancer Research, Breast Cancer Research, and PLOS One. Her articles highlight themes like Hsp-mediated migration, obesity-induced angiogenesis, and estrogen-driven tumor growth. Awards include her TEACRS Fellowship, recognizing her postdoctoral contributions to biomedical research. She teaches undergraduate courses in Mammalian Anatomy, Physiology, and Cellular Biology, integrating her research insights into pedagogy.
