Jessica Lynn Stewart is an Assistant Professor of African American Studies at Emory University. Her research examines how socioeconomic context and geography influence racial attitudes, policy preferences, and political behavior in African American communities.
She investigates regional variations in perceptions of racial progress, neighborhood change dynamics, and the intersection of place with economic opportunity. Current projects analyze housing policies, political representation of Black women, and federal spending priorities among women.
Her methodological approach combines qualitative and quantitative analysis of survey data, historical records, and spatial patterns. Publications explore discrimination landscapes, economic regionalism, and the political implications of residential mobility.
Honors include postdoctoral and dissertation fellowships from Wake Forest University and UCLA. She mentors students in race-place dynamics and political economy frameworks.
