Jessica Jowers is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Sheffield Hallam University, holding dual roles as Foundation Year Lead for the Institute of Law and Justice and Joint Course Leader of Criminology alongside Larissa Povey. She champions Widening Participation and student support, focusing on counteracting barriers to Higher Education through Foundation Year programs. Her educational background includes a BA(Hons) in Criminology and an MA in Applied Human Rights from Sheffield Hallam University.

Her research interests span Gender in Criminology (including domestic/sexual violence and image-based abuse), Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG), and Human Rights. She has trained in IGG techniques for identifying victims/perpetrators in criminal justice cases. She leads modules like The Exploration of Law, Crime, Justice and Society and Social Justice in Action, while teaching on Sex, Gender and Violence and Real World Research.
Jessica collaborates across multidisciplinary programs including Criminology, Sociology, Psychology, and Law with Foundation Year pathways. Her teaching emphasizes employability skills and student voice through continuous feedback integration.
