Alex Chaggar is a Lecturer in Criminology, Human Rights & Social Justice at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), based in the Department of Law & Criminology. Before entering academia, he worked at the crime prevention charity PUAC on projects funded by the European Regional Development Fund, including the Business Crime Reduction Centre initiative partnering with multiple police forces. He holds a BA(Hons) in Criminology and an MA in Applied Human Rights, both from SHU. His research focuses on human rights, social justice, and gender equality with international collaborations in India, South Africa, and Lesotho through the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice. He has contributed to policy recommendations on violence against women and girls (VAWG) and evaluated addiction recovery programs for veterans. His teaching spans criminological theory, interdisciplinary studies (Crim/Psych, Crim/Soc), and practical applications of justice systems.
