Jessica Jonsson is a Senior Lecturer at Örebro University's School of Behavioural, Social and Legal Sciences, specializing in legal science with a focus on child rights and international criminal justice. Dr. Jonsson is an expert in international child rights with extensive experience working with the UN, EU, and INGOs, particularly in Africa. Her research focuses on the intersection of child protection, humanitarian law, and digitalization. She has served as Former Director of Studies of the Children's Rights Academy and has been program responsible for initiatives like Barnrättsdagarna in Örebro and Barnrättstorget in Almedalen.
Her recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on children's participation in legal and humanitarian contexts, particularly examining how digitalization can enhance children's inclusion in crisis response. She has edited and contributed to significant works like 'Child Rights in Humanitarian Crisis: improving action and response' (2023), exploring gaps between internal and external complaint mechanisms, crisis site and recipient country responses, and the academic-practitioner divide.
Dr. Jonsson actively participates in research projects including 'Adoption and child protection: European perspectives' and 'Building Consensus for a sustainable Future: Anticipatory Governance and Administrative Foresight.'
