Jessica Goodkind is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Sociology at the University of New Mexico (UNM). Her research focuses on the mental health of refugees and immigrants, particularly addressing social determinants of health, community-based interventions, and cultural competency. She leads the Refugee & Immigrant Well-Being Project (RIWP), a research and community engagement initiative.
Education: PhD in Community Psychology from Michigan State University (2002).
Community Roles: Co-Director of DEI Curricular Development for UNM School of Medicine, Board Member of United Voices for Newcomer Rights.

Advising & Engagement: Advises resettlement agencies on policy and practice, develops culturally effective healthcare curricula, and collaborates with tribal communities in New Mexico. Recent work includes interventions targeting post-migration stressors and systemic inequities affecting mental health.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Refugee & Immigrant Well-Being Project (RIWP), fostering transdisciplinary partnerships to improve newcomer integration and healthcare access.
