Jessica Gong is a Research Fellow in Environmental Epidemiology at University College London (UCL), affiliated with the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health. She holds additional roles as an Honorary Senior Fellow at the George Institute for Global Health, Imperial College London, and an Affiliated Researcher at Karolinska Institutet. Her research focuses on dementia, ageing, health equity, and exposome analysis, employing machine learning and causal inference methodologies. She has conducted studies using multi-dimensional data from cohorts like UK Biobank and the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA).
Dr. Gong earned a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of New South Wales (via the George Institute), an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and a BSc in Neuroscience from the University of Melbourne. Her academic career includes roles as a Research Associate at Imperial College London (2023), Research Assistant at the University of Melbourne (2018–2019), and Laboratory Research Assistant at Columbia University (2015–2016). She also served as a Data Consultant for the World Health Organization in the Philippines (2021).
Her research interests span environmental health, statistical data science, and bioinformatics. She actively addresses health inequities and the social determinants of health, while exploring climate action implications for health outcomes. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health), 5 (Gender Equality), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 13 (Climate Action). She collaborates widely on projects involving dementia prevention, sex/gender differences in disease, and global health equity.
