Dr. Jessica Bodgener is a veterinarian researcher at the University of Kent’s School of Social Sciences, focusing on wild carnivore health and its implications for conservation. She holds a PhD in Biodiversity Management and an MSc in Wild Animal Health from the Royal Veterinary College (2014), following her veterinary qualification from the University of Glasgow (2008). Her work addresses canine distemper virus impacts on tigers and leopards, particularly in Nepal, aiming to inform wildlife management strategies.
She contributes to global conservation initiatives, including Wildlife Vets International’s Conservation Working Group, the Wild Tiger Health Project, and the Kazakhstan Tiger Re-introduction Program. In 2021, she founded “Stories of Survival,” a wildlife photography competition supporting conservation efforts.
Her research spans disease ecology, human-wildlife conflict mitigation, and biodiversity management, with a focus on large carnivores. Her publications address tiger and leopard health, emphasizing disease threats and conservation strategies.
