Jessica Bergmann

Dr Jessica Bergmann is a Lecturer in Medical Education and Phase 1 Coordinator for the Joint Medical Program (JMP) at the University of Newcastle (UON) and the University of New England (UNE). She works within the School of Medicine and Public Health, College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing, focusing on curriculum development and interprofessional education to enhance medical students' learning.

Her research interests center on Medical Education, Inter-professional Education, and Mental Health, with specific expertise in curriculum theory, primary and preventative healthcare. She investigates how medical students engage with self-directed learning environments and evaluates the alignment of teaching/learning cultures in medical programs.

Recent publications highlight her work in interprofessional education initiatives (e.g., medical students training as Assistant in Nursing), clinical skills assessment (OSCEs), and neurodevelopmental disorder studies using event-related potentials. Her 2024 Clinical EEG and Neuroscience paper explores auditory attention in ADHD/Autism, while her 2023 College Kindness Award recognizes contributions to medical education.
