Jessica Barreto

Jessica Barreto, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in family medicine and is fluent in Spanish. Her academic journey includes a Bachelor of Science in Biological Anthropology from the University of New Mexico, a medical degree from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Cuba, and residency training through the Cook County-Loyola University Family Medicine Program in Chicago.

Her research focuses on family physicians' perspectives on complementary and alternative medicine and improving healthcare access for underserved populations. Dr. Barreto has held roles as a Faculty Associate at UT Southwestern's Outpatient Family Medicine-Primary Care Clinic (2014–2016), provided primary care in Fort Worth via the University of North Texas and John Peter Smith Hospital, and returned to UT Southwestern's faculty in 2021.
