Jessica Andre is an Assistant Professor of Psychology in the College of Science & Society at the University of Bridgeport. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology/Neuroscience from Temple University and a B.S. in Biology and Psychology from Rutgers University.
- Education: Ph.D. (Temple University), B.S. (Rutgers University)
Her research focuses on behavioral neuroscience, specifically the interplay between nicotine addiction, cognitive functions like transitive inference, and psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and ADHD. She investigates how nicotine affects hippocampal neural circuits and exacerbates cognitive deficits.
Key trends in her publications include analyzing nicotine withdrawal effects on memory, genetic models of addiction, and hippocampal-prefrontal interactions. Her work often employs animal models to uncover neurochemical mechanisms related to learning and habit formation.
She has transitioned from postdoctoral research at Yale University to full-time teaching roles, including college-level courses and precollege programs. Her current work at Bridgeport emphasizes integrating neuroscience into educational frameworks.
