Dr. Jesse Rhoades is Full Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Public Health Education at the University of North Dakota. His research expertise spans biomechanics, kinesiology, human movement analysis, spaceflight mobility, and pedagogical innovation in physical education. He holds degrees from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (PhD in Kinesiology), Indiana State University (MA in Exercise Science, BS in Physical Education Teaching), and Parkland Community College (AS in Physical Education).
His NASA-funded research focuses on lunar gait dynamics, human movement under reduced gravity, and space suit design. Additional research areas include human complexity theory, dynamic systems, and non-conscious movement synchronization in physical education contexts.
Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on space medicine applications, athletic performance biomechanics, and pedagogical innovation. Research trends show consistent integration of advanced motion capture technology with theoretical frameworks from ecological dynamics and complex systems theory.
Rhoades leads multiple courses including Biomechanics, Research Methods, Motion Capture, and Applied Motor Development. He has secured significant research funding from NASA and US Army Research Office for projects related to parastronaut mobility and cognitive performance.
