معرفی
Jesse Papenburg, MD, M.Sc. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. He serves as a Scientist at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) at the Glen site, where he is affiliated with the Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health Program and the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE).
Dr. Papenburg's research focuses on the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of severe viral lower respiratory tract infections in children. His work prominently features influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and COVID-19, with a particular emphasis on pediatric populations. He actively engages in knowledge translation by contributing to national and provincial guidelines on RSV immunoprophylaxis, influenza antiviral treatment, and SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics and treatment.
His research portfolio demonstrates significant contributions to understanding viral respiratory infections in children, with numerous publications in high-impact journals. Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on surveillance methodologies, vaccine effectiveness, and clinical management strategies for pediatric respiratory infections. His work frequently utilizes data from the Canadian Immunization Monitoring Program ACTive (IMPACT) network, which tracks vaccine-preventable diseases and adverse events across Canadian pediatric hospitals.
Dr. Papenburg holds several important leadership positions: he is the Co-Director of the MUHC Vaccine Study Centre, a voting member of Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI), and chair of NACI's influenza working group. He also serves as a site investigator for Canada's Immunization Monitoring Program ACTive (IMPACT) surveillance network and the Pediatric Outcome imProvement through COordination of Research Networks (POPCORN).
His scientific contributions span clinical epidemiology, diagnostic testing evaluation, and vaccine policy development, with particular expertise in respiratory virus surveillance and prevention strategies for vulnerable pediatric populations.
