Dr. Jesse Dallery is a Professor at the University of Florida, holding positions in the Department of Psychology and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He serves as a licensed psychologist in Florida and has held prestigious roles such as the University of Florida Research Foundation Professor (2012–2015) and Term Professorship (2016–2018, 2021–2024). His research focuses on technology-based interventions for health behavior change, specifically in addiction treatment and smoking cessation. He has led numerous NIH-funded studies and pioneered digital contingency management approaches.
Dr. Dallery earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Emory University (1999) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His educational background includes a B.A. in Psychology (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of New Hampshire (1990).
His research interests span behavioral economics, contingency management, and translational research on nicotine addiction. He has developed smartphone-based interventions like mMotiv8 and QuitBet, which use digital platforms to promote health behaviors. His work bridges laboratory studies of decision-making with real-world clinical applications in substance use disorders.
Dr. Dallery has secured over $10 million in research funding, including grants from NIDA, NCI, and PCORI. He has authored 200+ peer-reviewed articles and serves on editorial boards for journals like Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. His students have won awards such as the Schumacher Dissertation Award and APA Division 25’s New Investigator Award.
He leads the University of Florida’s Behavior Analysis Program and teaches courses ranging from undergraduate behavior analysis to advanced graduate topics. His clinical experience includes roles as a psychologist in opioid treatment studies and a consultant for digital therapeutics development.
