معرفی
Jesper Sjöström is a Professor at the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, McGill University, and a Senior Scientist at the RI-MUHC (Montreal General Hospital site) within the Brain Repair and Integrative Neuroscience Program. His work integrates advanced technologies like quadruple whole-cell recordings, two-photon laser scanning microscopy, and computer simulations to explore synaptic plasticity and its implications in health and disease.
Research Focus: Sjöström investigates how synaptic plasticity shapes neural circuits and their functional roles in learning, memory, and pathologies such as epilepsy and autism. His team's research spans from basic mechanisms of plasticity to its computational modeling and disease-specific applications.
Selected Publications (2025–2022): Recent work includes studies on unified pre/postsynaptic plasticity, VIP interneuron dynamics, and NMDA receptor signaling. These contributions often appear in high-impact journals like Nature Reviews Neuroscience and Neuron.
Collaborative Team: The Sjöström Lab operates as a dynamic group with overlapping projects and collaborative research. They emphasize both primary research and methodological development, with recent publications highlighting innovations in optogenetic kindling and 2-photon imaging.
