Professor Jesper Kallestrup holds the Chair in Philosophy at the University of Aberdeen, part of the School of Divinity, History, Philosophy & Art History. He completed his PhD in Philosophy at the University of St Andrews (2001) and held previous academic roles at the University of Edinburgh and University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on epistemology, philosophy of mind, metaphysics, philosophy of language, and methodological issues in philosophy. He leads the AHRC-funded Digital Knowledge project and serves as Director of Research in his school.
Key research interests include group knowledge dynamics, extended epistemology, and social epistemology. His publications span over 50 peer-reviewed articles and books, emphasizing collective epistemic processes and cognitive integration. He coordinates courses like Social Epistemology and supervises PhD students in related areas.
