Jesko Sirker is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Science. He maintains his office in room 515 Allen Building and can be reached at 204-474-6192 or sirker@physics.umanitoba.ca.
His primary research interests focus on quantum physics and condensed matter physics, with specialization in theory of strongly correlated quantum systems and non-equilibrium Statistical Mechanics. His work particularly addresses topological aspects of quantum systems, non-Hermitian Hamiltonians, and open quantum systems.
Recent research trends show his focus on clarifying topological properties in non-Hermitian systems, as evidenced by his February 2025 publication in Physical Review Letters addressing the relationship between zero modes and topology in multiband non-Hermitian systems. He has been actively engaged in scientific discourse regarding quantum computing claims, particularly challenging Microsoft's assertions about topological qubits.
Professor Sirker maintains an active presence in academic discussions, particularly regarding science policy, research integrity, and the impact of political decisions on academic freedom and scientific progress.
