معرفی
Jerry van Dijk is an Associate Professor at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development within Utrecht University's Faculty of Geosciences, specializing in Environmental Sciences. He earned his PhD in wetland restoration ecology from the Free University of Amsterdam. His research examines environmental change impacts on ecosystems, focusing on nutrient stoichiometry in plant communities, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable agriculture transitions.
Research interests center on:
- Nutrient dynamics (N/P) in plant ecology and competitive interactions
- Sustainability transformations in food systems through transdisciplinary approaches
- Landscape-scale conservation strategies for meadow birds and wetland ecosystems
- Farmer behavior and institutional barriers in agricultural transitions
- Peatland biogeochemistry and rewetting impacts
- Agricultural landscape management for ecosystem services
- Nutrient pollution policy and conservation interventions
- Plant stoichiometric responses to environmental change
He coordinates courses and supervises student research in Utrecht University's Global Sustainability Science BSc and Sustainable Development MSc programs. Current projects include climate-land use impacts on Dutch meadowbirds (with Water Control Board Stichtse Rijnlanden) and nature-inclusive agriculture pathways.
