Jerry Coleman is an Adjunct Professor (Part-Time Faculty) at the University of San Francisco. He retired in July 2014 after 35 years as an Assistant District Attorney in San Francisco, where he served as Chief of the Brady, Appellate, and Training Division from 2011. His roles included supervising appellate litigation, training office staff, managing the Trial Integrity Unit, and overseeing prosecution discovery processes. He has conducted nearly 80 jury trials and has extensive experience in legal advocacy and team management.

His research focuses on legal ethics, prosecutorial accountability, and appellate practice. He co-authored a seminal article on Brady Rule compliance and misconduct sanctions. Coleman has taught at San Jose State’s Administration of Justice Program, the National College of District Attorneys, and various state-wide seminars. He was honored with the 2014 Career Achievement Award by the California District Attorneys Association.
His professional contributions emphasize legal integrity, trial advocacy training, and systemic reforms in criminal justice processes.
