Jerry Allen Powell

Jerry Allen Powell, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Pediatric Radiology Division. He serves as Radiology Service Chief at Children’s Health in Plano. His clinical expertise focuses on pediatric musculoskeletal imaging and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Powell holds a BS in Biology from Old Dominion University (Norfolk, Virginia) and an MD from UT Southwestern, with residency training at Baylor University Medical Center and a pediatric radiology fellowship at UT Southwestern.

Administratively, he serves as Regulatory Liaison for Radiology at UT Southwestern and Immediate Past President of the Medical Staff at Children’s Health Plano. He chairs the Credentials Committee and participates in Legacy Campus Medical Leadership and Quality Committees. Prior roles include staff radiologist at Presbyterian Hospital Dallas and Officer in Charge at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth.

Professional memberships include Radiological Society of North America, American Roentgen Ray Society, and Society of Pediatric Radiology. His career spans academic medicine, military service, and hospital administration with over 17 years of experience since joining UT Southwestern faculty in 2006.
