Jerrod Anzalone

Jerrod Anzalone, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Public Health. He serves as Co-Director of the Biomedical Informatics & Cyberinfrastructure Core of the Great Plains IDeA-CTR and Deputy Director of the Research, Education, Administration and Development of Biomedical Informatics Core. His research focuses on leveraging electronic health record (EHR) data and real-world datasets to address healthcare disparities in rural communities, emphasizing data interoperability, secure data sharing, and advanced analytics.

Education: PhD in Biomedical Informatics (UNMC, 2024); Master’s in Management Information Systems (UNO, 2019); Graduate Certificate in Systems Analysis & Design (UNO, 2018); Bachelor’s in History (UNO, 2010).

Research interests include clinical informatics, EHR interoperability, and research networks. His work analyzes rural-urban disparities in healthcare access, treatment outcomes, and EHR adoption. Recent studies focus on post-acute COVID-19 sequelae, therapeutic efficacy, and malnutrition impacts using large-scale national datasets like the National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C).

Professional affiliations include the American Medical Informatics Association and Association for Clinical and Translational Science. His publications emphasize rural health equity, SARS-CoV-2 variant analyses, and data-driven approaches to translational research.

He actively contributes to interdisciplinary teams addressing healthcare challenges through informatics solutions, advocating for scalable data infrastructure to improve rural patient outcomes.
