Associate Professor Jerome Wright at the University of York's Department of Health Sciences combines clinical nursing expertise with global mental health research. A registered adult and mental health nurse, he lectures across undergraduate and postgraduate nursing/public health programs, focusing on mental health care integration, cultural competency, and comorbidity management in the Global South.

His research applies critical/postcolonial perspectives to mental health in low-resource contexts, emphasizing biomedicine-indigenous knowledge synergy and participatory methods. Key projects include the York Mental and Physical Comorbidity Global Health Research Group and the Mental Health in Zomba (MHiZ) initiative. Collaborations span Africa, South Asia, and international NGOs.
