Jerome Frans Adda is a Full Professor of Economics at Bocconi University since 2014, serving as Vice-Rector from 2018 to 2022. He previously held professorships at the European University Institute (Florence) and University College London, with visiting appointments at Berkeley (2006-07) and Princeton (2024). He is also the Research Director at the Rockwool Foundation Berlin. Adda earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Paris (Sorbonne), following studies in biology at AgroParisTech and economics/statistics at ENSAE in Paris.
His research focuses on Health Economics, Labor Economics, Macroeconomics, and Family Economics, with notable contributions on public policy impacts on health behaviors, disease spread analysis, income-health linkages, and human capital dynamics. He has published in top journals like the Journal of Political Economy (JPE), American Economic Review (AER), Quarterly Journal of Economics (QJE), and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
Adda served as Managing Editor of the Review of Economic Studies (2013-2017 and 2021) and is a Fellow of the Econometric Society. His work spans topics such as intermarriage dynamics, wage growth drivers, antibiotic resistance prevention, and the economic consequences of parental roles.
He teaches courses like Empirical Research Methods and Data Analysis and Structural Econometrics at Bocconi. His research collaborations include projects on the career costs of parenthood, the health toll of trade competition, and the impact of income shocks on health outcomes.
