Jerome Daly

Jerome Daly is a Senior Lecturer in Geotechnics at the University of South Wales (USW) since January 2018. He leads the HNC Civil Engineering program and oversees Geotechnical Engineering modules across BSc, BEng, MEng, and MSc Civil Engineering courses. Previously, he served as Civil Engineering Program Leader at Bridgend College (2012–2018). His roles include Academic Misconduct Officer and Personal Academic Coach within the Civil Engineering Department.

With over 20 years as a Geotechnical Engineering consultant, Daly maintains strong industry connections. His expertise spans Geotechnical Site Investigation, 3D ground modeling, Slope Stability analysis, and COP26 climate policy support via the POST Expert Database. He has led projects such as geo-environmental assessments for contaminated sites, hospital redevelopments, and land reclamation schemes involving complex hydrogeology.

Past projects include:

• Geo-environmental assessment of a Council Works Depot in South Wales post-river pollution
• Redevelopment of a former garage and hospital sites with contamination and geotechnical challenges
• Stability assessment for a colliery reclamation project with artesian pressure issues
• Feasibility studies for a community hospital site addressing mine instability risks

His career emphasizes mentoring junior engineers and integrating industry practice with academic instruction.
