Jeroen ten Voorde is a Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at Leiden University and Academic Director of the Institute of Criminal Law & Criminology. He holds a prominent role in legal academia, combining teaching, research, and judicial practice.
His research focuses on substantive criminal law, criminal law philosophy, cybercrime (particularly sexual and property offenses), criminalization theories (legal interests and harm principles), and the future reform of the Dutch Penal Code. His recent work addresses legal procedural challenges and penal code adaptations.
He co-supervises PhD candidates and teaches across undergraduate and graduate law programs. Ancillary roles include substitute judge positions at the District Court Noord-Holland and the Hague Court of Appeal, alongside editorial work for PROCES and contributions to legal textbooks like Tekst & Commentaar.
