Jeroen Douwes serves as Professor of Public Health and Director of Massey University's Centre for Public Health Research in Wellington, New Zealand. A Dutch academic who relocated to New Zealand in 1998 after completing his graduate studies, he holds leadership roles in national research governance while maintaining an active research profile.
His educational foundation includes an MSc (1991) and PhD (1998) in environmental epidemiology from Wageningen University. These qualifications underpin his expertise in respiratory disease mechanisms, environmental exposure assessment, and occupational health risks.
Professor Douwes' research program systematically investigates the intersection of environmental factors and respiratory conditions, with particular emphasis on allergy development and exposure pathways.
