Jeremy Mason is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair of the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the University of California, Davis. His research focuses on theoretical and computational techniques to study microstructure evolution, grain boundary properties, and statistical thermodynamics, with an emphasis on advancing rational materials design. He holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT (2005) and a BS in Physics from MIT (2001).
His research interests include the development of novel simulation methods and mathematical frameworks to analyze materials phenomena such as solidification, deformation, and grain boundary motion. Notable contributions include work on texture tomography, nanoporous gold mechanics, and energy storage in metals under extreme conditions. He has secured grants through NSF and collaborative AI-driven materials research initiatives.
