Jeremy Koonce is an Assistant Professor In Residence in the Department of Geoscience at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He specializes in vadose zone hydrology and hydrogeology with a focus on unsaturated water flow in arid soils. His research leverages the SEPHAS Weighing Lysimeter Facility in Boulder City, NV, for long-term environmental monitoring.
- Ph.D. in Geoscience, UNLV (2016)
- M.S. in Water Resources Management, UNLV (2004)
- B.S. in Physical Geography & Environmental Studies, UCSB (1998)
His research interests include evaporative physics, soil water storage dynamics, and groundwater flow systems in arid regions. Koonce has contributed to numerical modeling of coupled water and heat transport processes in soils and snowpacks. His work bridges field instrumentation, computational analysis, and environmental applications.
Teaches courses ranging from introductory geology to advanced hydrogeology. Active in facility-based research through the SEPHAS lysimeter project, contributing to global arid zone hydrology understanding.
