Dr. Jeremy Gibson is an Assistant Professor of Zoology and Zoology Program Coordinator at Kentucky Wesleyan College. His research focuses on animal communication, particularly vibrational communication in wolf spiders, and involves student collaboration in the Gibson Lab. He teaches courses including Ecology, Entomology, and Evolution.
Education Background:
- Bachelor's degree from Northern Kentucky University (NKU)
- Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati
- Ph.D. from the University of Missouri
Research Interests: Dr. Gibson’s work examines how abiotic and biotic factors influence animal communication. His lab also supports student-driven projects in related areas like invertebrate behavior and ecological interactions. Students can engage through volunteer, work-study, or research roles.
Academic Journey: Before academia, Dr. Gibson managed a video store and ran a graphic design business. A pivotal grant opportunity during his undergraduate years ignited his passion for research, leading to fieldwork in New Mexico and later international collaborations across 8 countries, including Scotland.
