Jeremy Cohan is a sociologist and Director of the Honors Program at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). He holds a PhD from New York University and a BA with honors from the University of Chicago. His academic roles include Chair of the MA Critical Theory and the Arts Department at SVA.

Cohan’s research and teaching focus on sociology, critical theory, and political economy, with interdisciplinary connections to art education and cultural studies. His work examines systemic issues in education, labor dynamics, and ideological frameworks through theorists like Adorno, Foucault, and Gorz.
He has participated in presentations and moderations at institutions such as the American Sociological Association, The Jacobin Show, and the Cultural Studies Association, addressing topics like generative AI in education, the Frankfurt School, and systemic churn in Chicago’s corporate school reform.
