Jeremy Chung Bo Chiang

Dr. Jeremy Chung Bo Chiang is a postdoctoral research associate at Aston University's School of Optometry, College of Health and Life Sciences, working closely with Professor James Wolffsohn, while maintaining a primary appointment as Adjunct Lecturer at UNSW's School of Optometry and Vision Science. He completed his PhD in 2023 at UNSW focusing on corneal nerve changes in systemic neurotoxic chemotherapy used for cancer treatment at UNSW and the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney.

Dr. Chiang earned his BOptom (Hons) and BSc in 2016 from UNSW's School of Optometry and Vision Science, where he was awarded the University Medal. His academic journey includes multiple scholarships and prestigious awards recognizing both his research excellence and clinical optometry skills.

His research expertise centers on ocular surface imaging, particularly corneal nerves in dry eye disease diagnosis and management. Dr. Chiang's work bridges clinical practice with academic research, investigating how different parts of the eye reflect both ocular and systemic health conditions. His specific focus areas include:

• Corneal Nerve Imaging: Studying nerve changes in systemic neurological conditions including peripheral neuropathies caused by neurotoxic cancer treatments and diabetes
• Dry Eye Disease: Developing diagnostic and management approaches through advanced imaging techniques
• Neuro-ophthalmology: Exploring connections between ocular surface health and systemic neurological conditions
• Diagnostic Imaging: Advancing in-vivo corneal confocal microscopy applications

He has mentored higher degree research students since 2020 and has extensive experience as an optometry clinical tutor across multiple courses.
