Jeremy C. Andersen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Conservation at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His research focuses on population genomics, biological control of invasive species, and insect conservation, with a particular emphasis on genetic interactions between invasive and native species.
- PhD in Environmental Science, Policy and Management from University of California Berkeley (2015)
- MS in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from University of Massachusetts Amherst (2009)
- BS in Biology from University of Massachusetts Amherst (2006)
Key research areas include:
- Genetics of hybridization between invasive winter moths and native Bruce spanworms
- Biological control of Japanese Knotweed and Hemlock Woolly Adelgid
- Conservation genetics of endangered fireflies and bumble bees
- Machine learning applications for invasive species identification
His lab, the Forest Insect Conservation and Management Laboratory, employs systematics, phylogenetics, and population genetics to inform sustainable pest control and species conservation efforts.
