معرفی
Jeremiah Dung is an Associate Professor at Oregon State University (OSU) affiliated with the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology and the Central Oregon Agricultural Research and Extension Center (COARC). His research focuses on molecular epidemiology, plant disease modeling, and integrated management strategies for specialty crops in the Pacific Northwest.
Education: Ph.D. (2012) and M.S. (2009) in Plant Pathology from Washington State University.
Research Interests:
- Molecular epidemiology and population genetics of plant pathogens
- Spatial and temporal dynamics of plant disease epidemics
- Environmental factors influencing disease outbreaks
- Development of sustainable disease management practices
Recent work emphasizes airborne pathogen dispersal (e.g., Xanthomonas hortorum pv. carotae in carrot crops) and fungal disease systems like ergot in grass seed crops. His team collaborates on USDA-funded projects to address emerging crop challenges.
Professional Accomplishments:
- Recipient of a $2.9M USDA-NIFA SCRI Grant (2021) for specialty crop research
- Leadership in ergot disease management initiatives
- Co-advisor to graduate students like Grace Hardy (Ph.D. Fellow)
Outreach & Labs:
- OSU-COARC Plant Pathology Lab
- Extension publications on hemp cultivation and grass seed pest management
- Collaborations with industry groups like the Oregon Seed Council
