Dr. Jera Niewoehner-Green is an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for the Community Leadership major and Leadership Studies minor at The Ohio State University. She holds a B.A. in Spanish from Sweet Briar College (1999), an M.Ed. in Community Development and Action from Vanderbilt University (2013), and a Ph.D. in Leadership Development from the University of Florida (2017).
Her research focuses on

- Youth empowerment through social capital
- Cultural competency in global leadership contexts
With over 15 years in education, she taught Spanish and Leadership courses in Nashville’s public schools and developed CTE programs. Her work emphasizes marginalized groups’ participation in leadership and the impact of study abroad programs in Latin America/Caribbean on cultural intelligence.
