Dr. Jens Gerdelmann is a researcher affiliated with the Department of Neuro- and Sensory Physiology at the University Medical Center Göttingen. Previously, he completed his PhD in Soft Matter Physics at the University of Leipzig's Peter Debye Institute, graduating in autumn 2008. His research interests focus on neuroscience, neurophysiology, and cellular biophysics, particularly within molecular and cellular systems. He currently holds a postdoctoral position in Fred Wouters' Laboratory for Molecular and Cellular Systems.
His academic journey includes studies in physics and earth sciences at the University of Leipzig, where he specialized in biological physics and the mechanical properties of cells and tissues. While at Leipzig, his work contributed to understanding cancer mechanisms and neuronal growth dynamics through advanced microscopy and biomechanical techniques.
