Jens David Ohlin is the Allan R. Tessler Dean and Professor of Law at Cornell Law School. He holds academic leadership roles including Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Director of Faculty Research. His research intersects criminal law, criminal procedure, public international law, and the laws of war, with a focus on technological advancements in warfare (drones, cyber-attacks) and statecraft below armed conflict thresholds.
- Education: J.D. and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
- Roles: Steering Board Member of an international working group on secondary liability for international crimes, Council on Foreign Relations member.
Research interests include conspiracy liability, philosophy of international law, and the ethical dimensions of modern warfare. He authored three casebooks, including the 16th edition of Wharton’s Criminal Law and co-authored LaFave and Ohlin's Criminal Law. His upcoming book The Sovereign Other re-examines the relationship between domestic and international social contracts.
