Jenny Stern is an Associate Professor and Lecturer in the Department of Health Promotion Sciences at Sophiahemmet University. She holds a PhD from Uppsala University (2015) and is a registered nurse specializing in public health. Her research focuses on improving sexual and reproductive health outcomes, including optimizing preconception care, fertility awareness, and contraceptive counseling. Key projects include interventions targeting youth clinics, maternal healthcare improvements, and midwife perspectives on men’s reproductive health.
Dr. Stern collaborates with researchers from Uppsala University, Mälardalen University, Linköping University, Mazandaran University, and Plymouth University. She has received prestigious awards, including the Young Scientists Award (2013) and the Nurses Award (2012). She actively contributes to academic governance as a member of Sophiahemmet's Equal Treatment Council and served on the planning committee for the 3rd European Congress on Preconception Health and Care (2016).
Her research emphasizes the importance of pre-pregnancy health behaviors, gender equity in reproductive care, and leveraging digital platforms for health information. Recent studies explore breastfeeding duration, pandemic-era health misinformation, and midwifery education gaps regarding men’s health.
