Jenny Lovell

Jenny Lovell is a Researcher affiliated with the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). She serves as a scientist in residence at West High School (WHS), focusing on engaging students in the scientific process. Her research investigates climate change impacts on agriculture in Cambodia and Vietnam, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches that blend social and natural science methodologies. She examines how farmers, particularly male and female, adapt to environmental challenges like floods, droughts, and crop failures.

Dr. Lovell’s work originated from her early experiences in New Orleans, where she witnessed environmental injustices affecting marginalized communities. Her research aims to address equity in climate resilience strategies. She has taught and tutored at multiple high schools, aiming to inspire students through hands-on scientific inquiry involving humans and ecosystems.
