Dr. Jenny Kemp is a Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the School of Education, University of Leicester. She joined the university in 2023, with a prior affiliation from 2007–2023 as an EAP tutor and program manager. Her research focuses on corpus linguistics, legal English, and discipline-specific vocabulary, particularly in academic and legal contexts. With over 30 years of teaching experience across the UK and Greece, she specializes in EFL/ESL/ESP/EAP instruction, curriculum design, and teacher development.
Her academic contributions include pioneering work on corpus-based methodologies for vocabulary analysis, legal text examination, and academic writing improvement. She has managed pre-sessional and in-sessional programs for international students and contributed to professional bodies like BALEAP through accreditation schemes and mentoring roles. A Leicester graduate, she holds both a BA and PhD from the university, reflecting her deep institutional ties.
Jenny’s teaching philosophy emphasizes practical applications of linguistic research, such as the ‘Listening Log’ to enhance autonomous learning. Her publications span 2008–2024, consistently addressing lexical challenges in academic and professional settings. She remains active in advancing EAP practices through innovative pedagogical strategies and technology integration.
