Jenny Dean is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Canberra, affiliated with the Rural Education and Communities research group within the Centre for Sustainable Communities. Her work focuses on education equity, curriculum access, and the sociological dimensions of Indigenous schooling. She collaborates with the National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling to study policy impacts like the HECS-HELP loan scheme's effects on higher education participation. Her doctoral research analyzed spatial disparities in Indigenous primary school achievement using advanced quantitative methods.
Prior to her PhD, she held government roles in data analysis, specializing in literacy, adult learning, and early childhood development. Her current projects include examining curriculum access in NSW schools and evaluating national education policies. Key themes in her research include educational stratification, rural-urban disparities, and the drivers of university enrollment.
Her 2024 publications address STEM education equity in secondary schools, policy trends in higher education, and the representation of rurality in curriculum content. She advises on PhD students and actively engages in interdisciplinary collaborations to advance equity-focused educational research.
