She has authored or edited significant works, including Childhood and War in Eighteenth-Century Britain (Oxford University Press, 2025) and volumes on women and families in the British Army.
Dr. Hurl-Eamon’s scholarship is characterized by interdisciplinary approaches to military and social history. Her work often examines intersections of gender, family, and institutional structures, such as the role of women in military contexts and the sociolegal dimensions of marital relationships in early modern England. Recent articles analyze themes like the lived experiences of soldiers, the cultural construction of childhood in wartime, and the gendered dynamics of military memoirs.
Her research has been widely published in journals like War in History, Journal of Military History, and Journal of Family History. She has also contributed to edited volumes on topics ranging from female violence to early modern legal practices. Her academic contributions highlight the importance of understanding marginalized voices in historical narratives, particularly those of soldiers' families and plebeian communities.
