Jennifer Ziegler is a faculty member in the Writing for Children and Young Adults MFA program at Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is an accomplished author of children’s and young adult literature, with a focus on themes such as family dynamics, identity, and social issues. Her works include critically acclaimed titles such as Worser, Revenge of the Flower Girls, and Alpha Dog.
Her research interests and creative work explore the intersection of narrative storytelling with emotional and social development in young readers. She has been recognized for her ability to weave humor, wordplay, and heartfelt stories that resonate with middle-grade and YA audiences.
Notable awards and honors include the 2007 Teddy Children’s Book Award finalist for Alpha Dog, the 2012-2013 Spirit of Texas Reading Program High School Featured Title for How Not to Be Popular, and the 2009 Lone Star Reading List. Her works have also been highlighted on the 2010 Young Adults’ Choices Reading List and the 2010-2011 YARP Reading List.
Jennifer has extensive experience in education, having taught writing for over two decades in middle schools and as part of the Vermont College of Fine Arts program. She offers workshops and presentations on character development, narrative structure, and the craft of writing for young audiences, emphasizing the importance of revision and feedback in the creative process.
