Dr. Jennifer Willet is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Art, Science and Ecology at the University of Windsor’s School of Creative Arts. She directs the INCUBATOR Art Lab, a pioneering interdisciplinary space merging bioart, ecology, and public engagement. Her work explores biotechnology’s socio-cultural impacts through installations, performances, and educational initiatives. Notable projects include the 'COVID Suit' (2020), 'The Great Lakes Algae Organ' (2019), and the 'BioArt: Contemporary Art and the Life Sciences' course, which bridges disciplines for students across faculties.
Her research emphasizes democratizing biotechnology through embodied practices, as seen in collaborations like the 'Art and Ecology Sidewalk Parade' (2012) and the SMArt Communications masterclasses. She has exhibited internationally, including at the Ars Electronica Festival, and her work appears in venues like the Artcite Gallery and Ectopia Gallery. Awards include membership in the Royal Society of Canada (2017). Current projects include educational residencies funded by the SETI Institute and Ottawa-based science-policy engagement initiatives.
