Jennifer Tsien is a Professor and Director of the Undergraduate Program in the Department of French at the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on the Enlightenment, particularly Voltaire, French literary aesthetics, and the history of New Orleans. She also explores transnational cultural exchanges between Francophone and Chinese traditions.

Professor Tsien teaches courses on the Enlightenment, French colonialism in Louisiana, and Asia-Francophonie. She has also authored a graphic novel, The Life of the Marquise de Pompadour, and illustrated works in the Romanic Review.
