Dr. Jennifer Soon is a Medical Oncologist affiliated with the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health and the Centre for Health Policy at the University of Melbourne. She is completing a Melanoma and Translational Research Fellowship under Prof. Grant McArthur at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Her clinical training spanned institutions including Monash Health, Eastern Health, Alfred Health, and Austin Health, with a focus on melanoma and immunotherapy. She holds an Honours degree from Monash University (2010) and FRACP (2018). In 2021, she began a PhD under Prof. Maarten IJzerman, Prof. Grant McArthur, and Dr. Fanny Franchini, exploring the interplay between economics and health outcomes using trial and real-world data.
Her research interests include de-intensification strategies in cancer care, health economics, and predictive modeling. Key projects involve analyzing systemic therapies for melanoma, developing budget-impact models (PRIMCAT-MEL), and investigating immune checkpoint inhibitor complications. She has contributed to phase I/II trials (e.g., CELEBRATE) and retrospective cohort studies on treatment outcomes.
Dr. Soon aims to advance statistical analysis skills in R and modeling to address healthcare inefficiencies. Her work bridges clinical oncology with policy, focusing on optimizing resource allocation and patient-centered care. Despite no listed awards, her research aligns with high-impact areas in oncology and health systems. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams in labs like the Cancer Health Services Research Unit.
