Jennifer S. Pardo serves as Professor of Psychology within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Montclair State University, concurrently directing the Speech Communication Laboratory and overseeing both the MA in Psychological Sciences and combined BA/MA in Psychology programs.
Her academic credentials include:
- BA in Psychology from Barnard College
- MS in Cognitive Psychology from Yale University
- PhD in Cognitive Psychology from Yale University
Her research specializes in spoken language dynamics, examining how speakers produce and perceive speech during natural conversations. This work bridges cognitive psychology and communication science, focusing on real-time dialogue mechanics, vocal adaptation, and social context effects in speech processing. Current investigations explore neural and behavioral correlates of conversational exchange through experimental paradigms.
Professor Pardo's research program receives substantial support from competitive federal funding sources including the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institutes of Health (NIH). She leads the Speech Communication Laboratory, which functions as an interdisciplinary research hub investigating speech production-perception coupling through acoustic analysis, eye-tracking, and behavioral experiments.
