He holds Visiting Chairs at Bristol Robotics Laboratory and University College London. His academic journey includes degrees from BA (Hons) to PhD, with over four decades in speech technology R&D. Moore's research focuses on cognitive informatics, particularly the PRESENCE framework, clinical applications of speech technology, and vocal interactivity across humans, animals, and robots. He pioneered the Aurix speech technology products and co-founded 20/20 Speech Ltd. His leadership roles include ISCA presidency and General Chair for INTERSPEECH-2009. Notable awards include the 2025 ISCA Medal and 2016 LREC Zampoli Prize. His work spans silent speech interfaces, biomimetic vocal systems, and ethical design of social robots. Grants include the EASEL project (EU FP7).
Research interests integrate interdisciplinary approaches from biology, robotics, and psychology to advance spoken language processing. Recent projects include voice restoration for laryngectomy patients, affordance design for social robots, and cross-species vocal interaction studies. Moore actively promotes public engagement through talks and workshops, emphasizing ethical AI and human-centric technology design.
