Jennifer S. Hunt is an Associate Professor of Gender and Women’s Studies and Psychology at the University of Kentucky, with a joint appointment in Psychology and an Interdisciplinary Fellowship in the College of Law. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology (with a minor in Law) from the University of Minnesota (2001) and a B.A. from Creighton University (1995). Her research focuses on racial bias in legal contexts, juror decision-making, gender and race ideologies, and stereotypes. She investigates how jurors process complex evidence like character testimony and explores 'gender-blind' vs. 'gender-aware' ideologies, as well as tolerance of racism.
Dr. Hunt serves as an Associate Editor for Law and Human Behavior and previously held editorial roles in the American Psychology-Law Society. She teaches courses such as Sex and Power, Inequalities Under the Law, and the Psychology of Gender at the undergraduate level, and a graduate course on Prejudice and Inequality. She received the Action Teaching Award (2012) for her pedagogical contributions.
Her prior affiliations include SUNY Buffalo State (where she coordinated the Women and Gender Studies program from 2009–2015) and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
